Rick Crown

Rick Crown is a ceramicist, sculptor, and one of my very favorite teachers ever.  His retirement party was a few weeks ago, held to honor and celebrate his 37 years as a professor at Queens University of Charlotte.  Lots of people shared fond and funny memories–we laughed and we cried.  He’s one of the warmest, most inspiring people I’ve ever met.  I feel lucky to have been his student.

  1. Rick was one of my favorite teachers, too, when I attended Queens College (as it was known then) back in the 1980s. Although I finally settled on textiles as my favorite medium, I enjoyed ceramics for the same “hands-on” feeling.

I too was lucky enough to have Rick as a teacher at Queens (also in the 80′s) I am still crazy over clay! He was a great teacher. He would get so excited over whatever project we were working on!
