Randel Plowman, curator of the book Masters: Collage, organized a corresponding gallery show at the Northern Kentucky University’s gallery. Each artist featured in the book was invited to participate in this exhibition, and I’ll be showing four pieces. I’m sad that I can’t be in attendance, but Randel say’s he’ll get pictures of the event. I’ll post them up soon! If you’re in the area make sure you get by to see this incredible variety of work by contemporary collage artists.

I’ve had my eyes on Macha Jewelry for some time now. Owned and operated by Bernice Kelly out of London, England, Macha is a truly wonderful synthesis of expert craftsmanship, elegant design, and powerful symbolism. Awhile back we made contact and decided to work together on a collaboration/trade. I created illustrations for her new line in exchange for some lovely jewelry, and I’ve been dying to tell you all about it and show off the results!
This project required that I incorporate photographs of her jewelry designs into my typical collage style. The symbols and subject matter present in Macha jewelry fit right into my interests, so this was an especially fun project. I’m now the proud owner of Dave the Snake and the Snake Bone rings, and I can tell you they are truly beautiful. Here’s a big thank you to Bernice Kelly, an amazing designer and artisan (not to mention an all around lovely person). Be sure to check out her beautiful work at her website, etsy store and facebook page.
These are just a sampling, to view all the illustrations, visit my portfolio.
I worked with the French band, The Cobblestones, on album artwork for their new release, “Highlight of Superficial Provocation”. The album is a beautiful psychedelic retreat, I’ve been listening to it everyday in my studio. The music is warm and reminds me of good memories that I can’t quite put my finger on. The cover image is from my 2009 Dark Crystal series, entitled Intuition.
I’ve been cutting out lots of tiny little people for my newest series. The other day I poured them all out on the table to show Robert what I’d done with my afternoon. He immediately picked up a camera and started shooting pictures. We took turns snapping photos and playing god of small things. I made a few animated gifs from our shoot. Good times!
I’m excited to announce that I’ll have work at group show during July. It’s at the Mahan Gallery in Columbus, Ohio and the show is entitled “Penny Pinch“. Here’s all the basic info, borrowed from their website:
“Mahan Gallery is pleased to present Penny Pinch an exhibition of new works by 10 up and coming Ohio area artists. Each artist will be presenting 10 works of art each under 24 x 24 inches. Penny Pinch is made up of 100 works of art, every piece in the show being priced at $200, with the option of a two month payment plan to help encourage young collectors interested in buying work.”
If you’re able to make a visit, take advantage of the opportunity to see/purchase some super affordable artwork. Even if you can’t attend the show, the gallery has a pretty slick setup for ordering online. Here’s a little preview of my new work!
