Yay!–I can finally show you some more pictures of the new Fictionist CD, which came out on Tuesday (at iTunes and amazon and everywhere else, grab one). I just got my own copy in the mail, so I gave a try at taking some ‘product shots’. Graphic design is by Rob Carmichael and the photo of the band is by RickEgan.
This is definitely the most involved project I’ve ever been a part of, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.
I just got my copy of Here We Cease Our Motion by Bird and Flower. It’s a masterpiece. Give it a listen here, then go get the vinyl–you won’t be disappointed.
Paper ‘n Stitch is an online exhibition space that features great work from artists and designers. They curate new work each month and we’re super happy to be there–please give us a visit. There are lots of other neat-o folks there, some favorites include: Mumbreeze, Elizabeth Bauman, & Yellowgoat.
I tweeted this Daedelus video the other day and had to blog about it. Daedelus uses a monome to create his songs. I’d never heard of it before so I checked it out and found some more great music made with it, see below.
The latest ep from Friends of Friends is Daedelus and Jogger (with artwork by Kozyndan). This song taken from Daedelus’ 3 included is a sort of whimsical steam-punkish musing. Lots of fun light filters and monome! fofmusic.net for more information on the music and elistonberg.com for more on the director.
After I listened to this the 10th time, I realized it has a hint of Tonight, Tonight… Alfred, did you use it in the song? What do you think?
If you haven’t heard the new Dan Deacon album Bromst yet you’re missing out! Granted, Deacon’s music isn’t for everyone (no offense to all the sappy slow music lovers out there) but I had to share this video from Pitchfork.tv. Deacon takes music layering to the extreme and uses some cool techniques to blend the electronic and organic worlds. In particular, this video of the player piano used for the new album is a great example.
